Journal Entry:
Midsummer's Eve
I start this journal off on a fairly exciting note-- tonight is Midsummer's Eve! As I pen each letter, the sounds of wailing banshees and thundering giants comes from the edges of the yard. The first Midsummer's Eve since the islands broke off from the Fairy Realm has passed much like all others I experienced during my visits at Fablehaven, though I've heard tales from Patton of his relative's mistakes on this terrible night.
Off to the East lies a island shrouded in dark mist, impenetrable by all of our creatures of light. The fairies who have gone have come back with damaged wings, the Astrids with broken bones. Olenne and I have been planning an expedition by boat to sail around the outskirts of it, but I'm unsure whether that's a safe idea...
That's all I have for updates as of now, the night is starting to quiet. I should get some sleep while I can, so I will put away this notebook for now.
Best wishes to whomever reads this,
Wessex Burgess
